Help! I Want to View My Handheld Animations on a Computer! How To Tips for You

Some handheld software does not have PC companion software which allows the syncing and viewing of data files from the handheld using a computer.  However, it is still possible to extract data from the Palm OS database files (.pdb) files located in the Palm Desktop user Backup folder. These How To Tips will describe how data from animation software, Animate Me! by Rodrigo Software and Sketcher by Palmetto Logic can be extracted to create images or animations. This guide will take the reader through extracting .pdb files with PDB Explorer after hotsyncing and then using "freeware" to create animations.

Download and install the software
PDB Explorer allows the viewing of Palm OS .pdb files and saving images as .bmp format

IrFanView software converts .bmp file formats to other popular image formats such as .gif or .jpg

Note: Some free software for creating animations does not recognize .bmp files and so this interim solution is needed to convert the .bmp image to a .gif or .jpg file format

UnFreeze  is a basic and easy to use animator which is free! However, one limitation is that it does not read .bmp files so files need to be converted to .gif format before UnFreeze can create an animation.
